John Bennett

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesian 2:8-9
John joined the Lone Oak FBC team in April, 2018 as Minister of Children. John holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Western Kentucky University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville. Following graduation, he worked for five years as a Child and Family Therapist. Feeling a call to ministry, he returned to Louisville to complete another Master’s Degree in Education from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. John has since served in children and family ministry for almost 25 years, five of which as a Children Ministry Specialist for the Kentucky Baptist Convention. John’s passion is not only working with children, but equipping and empowering parents and families to be spiritual leaders in their home. “I truly believe that parents are the greatest influence of a child’s spiritual development. And we, as the Church, must work in partnership with families to ensure children are being spiritually nurtured at home as well as church.” These truths are straight from Deuteronomy 6:4-8. John is married to Angela and they have two adult children; Johnathan and Rachel. John loves spending time with his wife and their children, wake boarding, mountain biking, disc golf, basketball and pretty much any other form of recreation.
