April 2023 Update
GROUNDBREAKING CELEBRATION
Sunday morning, April 30, we will celebrate the Groundbreaking for Phase 0 of our Future Building & Growth project. The ceremony will take place between services starting at 10:05 AM (the first service will end 10 minutes early; second
service will begin 10 minutes late) around the flagpoles at the northeast entrance. Parents of elementary children should pick
up kids by 10:00 AM because we want every child to be able to attend the brief ceremony with their parents.
Parents of preschoolers may choose to leave their children in preschool during the ceremony or pick them up to attend as well.
Construction on Phase 0 will begin on May 1, and some parts of the building will be closed while work is ongoing. Please
keep an eye out for signs that identify closed areas or new ways to get around the construction in progress.

Coming up on April 18 – our Pastor will share an important update on the progress of our Future Building and Growth and restarting the building process after a year of COVID pause. This will be in-person and online at 9:00 and 10:30 AM, so if you’re a church member — make sure you’re here.
March 2020 Update
Due to Covid-19, the March 29 “Family Meeting was been postponed.
In October, November, and January, we heard reports of our Building Committee, and at the January Monthly Business Meeting, we commissioned a feasibility study / schematic design for architecture and engineering so that we could bring a clearer recommendation to the church this spring.
Our next “Family Meeting” will be Sunday afternoon, March 29, at 5:00PM (childcare provided through 3rdgrade). Like the previous two meetings, this will be a time of prayer and worship, but there will also be NEW INFORMATION to share about the progress of this building project. If you have any questions you would like to submit in advance to the Building Committee, please e-mail Hank Garner at hgarner@loneoakfbc.org or stop by the Connection Center on Sunday morning.
January 2020 Update
In October and November, we heard the reports of our Building Committee, and this time we wanted to get the whole church together for another FAMILY MEETING on SUNDAY, JANUARY 12, at 5:00 PM. This was a time of prayer and worship as well as a discussion on the various pathways to funding the Children’s Building and Campus Makeover project as we talk through What’s Next for Lone Oak FBC. If you have any questions you would like to submit to the Building Committee, please e-mail Hank Garner at hgarner@loneoakfbc. org or stop by the Connection Center on Sunday morning.
November 2019 Update
On Sunday, November 3, the church held a town-hall-style “Family Meeting”. This gave everyone the opportunity to hear the report of the Building Committee, ask questions, and get answers concerning some of the proposed solutions for future campus development. The Building Committee laid out a compelling case for a series of renovations to the buildings and grounds as well as an aggressive plan to address many of the present maintenance items and the need to plan for the future demands of the church’s programs as we look toward the emerging generation.
The plan, which will not be put to the church for a vote until some- time in early 2020, consists of five steps:
- Construction of an administrative building on the northeast corner of the C-Wing.
- Demolition of the A & B Wings
- Construction of a new building for our Preschool and Children’s Ministries and renovation of the C-Wing classrooms into adult education space.
- Construction of a new Fellowship Hall in place of the Chapel and the northwest classrooms of the C-Wing.
- Renovation of the Worship Center
If you missed the “Family Meeting” or have questions about what you have heard (or heard through “the grapevine”), please email Hank Garner, Executive Pastor, hgarner@loneoakfbc.org.
We will have a second “Family Meeting” on Sunday, January 12, at 5:00 pm. Please make plans to join us that evening and be in prayer for God’s will to be known and accomplished faithfully as we EXALT CHRIST in worship, MAKE DISCIPLES of Jesus Christ through Bible-centered teaching, and PASS THE TORCH of faith in missions and evangelism – from generation to generation.
